ABOUT

In my first life I was a musician. I began playing upright bass at the age of seven, trained with the New York Philharmonics former principal bassist, and earned my Masters in music at Yale at 27.

When a good friend of mine introduced me to the world of photography, I became hypnotized. I loved the smell of the darkroom, the click of the shutter, all the little knobs on a 4X5. Completely fascinated by the mechanics of a camera, and its unique ability to create, I was determined to learn everything I possibly could about photography. For seven years I worked for some of the world’s best fashion, still life, and celebrity photographers.

In 2004 I moved to Milan. Three years in Italy reinforced my desire to innovate. I sought to create images that would empower and invigorate even the strongest of celebrity personalities and brands. In London, I fell into frequent work with Harpers Bazaar, where I photographed a number of celebrities and solidified my shooting style, now an effective balance of creativity and pragmatism.

Back in New York City, I am finally home. A photographer, an entrepreneur and an artist, I carry my music through my images, and continuously seek to invent new ways of seeing.
